Gordon B. Crooks, age 95, was called home by his Lord and Savior on March 25, 2024. Fighting a courageous battle over a lengthy illness, Gordon persevered with his loving wife always by his side.
He was born in Massillon on September 9, 1928, to Archer and Verla (Domro) Crooks, and was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roland Crooks.
He attended school at Harvey Elementary, Lorin Andrews Jr. High, and Washington High School before entering the service in 1951. In the United States Army, Gordon was in the Co. C 761st Tank Battalion Div Trains, Third Armored Division, 1st Platoon until 1953, serving one year in Korea with the 30th Ordinance H.M. Co. Tank Division. After returning Gordon (Private First Class) transferred to the Army Reserve and was discharged in December 1956.
The love of cars came from working with his father at West End Auto Repair from the time he was 13. He took over the family business as owner until retiring in 2001.
He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish - St. Joseph Campus, The American Legion Post 221 for over 71 years and a lifetime member of The Loyal Order of the Moose.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Marie (Langenfeld) Crooks; and Holly Crooks his last and best dog (Shih-Poo); cousins, neighbors, and cherished friends.
